IMPROVED RECIPE!! We have added a range of pre-selected beneficial microbes to our fermentation process (using the Japanese Bokashi method) to improve the effectiveness of our biostimulant.

Why Seaweed Fertiliser?

  • Grow bigger crops and improve plant and soil health with our new concentrated seaweed biostimulant.
  • Boosts plant growth and improves soil condition while reducing fertiliser needs.
  • Specifically designed for veg patches, gardens, lawns and outdoor pots.

Our concentrated seaweed biostimulant is an alternative or addition to regular plant and crop fertilisers. It is particularly useful for organically grown plants and veg, where artificial fertilisers are not used, and on poor, degraded, soils.

Our biostimulant stimulates plant defense responses that contribute to resistance to several pests, diseases, and abiotic stresses including drought, salinity, and cold.
In addition, it triggers plant hormonal responses due to seaweed’s specific components and interaction with plant growth regulation. It also improves the soil microbiome in support of sustainable plant growth.

  • Can be used in combination with other treatments/feed/fertilisers
  • Add 50ml biostimulant per 10L water
  • Apply weekly. More often on poor soils
  • Can be applied year-round
  • Monitor response and adjust application
  • 24 month shelf life

For indoor and outdoor use. If you require larger (commercial) quantities please get in touch.

Made exclusively from Cornish seaweed, sustainably grown in our Cornish seafarm, and then fermented with Effective Micro-organisms to release all the nutrients.

How is our seaweed biostimulant different?

The Seaweed

We use kelp (Saccharina latissima), the most commonly farmed seaweed in the UK. Kelps contain about 30% sugars. These sugars are alginate, mannitol, laminarin and fucoidan. Whilst seaweeds have all these sugars (to varying degrees), kelps are high in alginate and laminarin. Laminarin is a known antifungal for mildew and grey mould (grapevine study), proven enhanced tolerance to heat and salt stress (Brassica study), and activates immune system responses known as PAMPS and MAMPS. Alginate promotes water stress tolerance by stimulating absicic acid signalling pathways (study in cucumbers). The alginate gel property works in the soil by binding metal and soil particles together. The other two sugars induce similar plant defense responses.

Most seaweed biostimulants use a species called Egg wrack (Ascophylum nodosum). It is the most abundant species found in sheltered rocky bays around Scotland and Ireland, which is probably why it has been used as the primary seaweed for biostimulant. Not necessarily because it is the most suitable seaweed.

The Environment

Egg wrack is wild harvested. Whilst there is nothing particularly wrong with this, it does leave some considerations. Wild harvest always means taking something from the natural environment, even if it is done in a sustainable manner. Seaweeds contain different concentrations of minerals and sugars throughout their growth period and because egg wrack is wild harvested throughout the year, the sugar and mineral content varies per batch. We harvest our kelp from our Cornish seaweed farms in Fowey and The Lizard Peninsula. In doing so we harvest the seaweed when they contain the maximum levels of the all-important sugars. This also provides consistency to agriculturalists and horticulturalists and allows us to create a set mineral profile.

The Recipe

There are many ways to extract liquid from seaweed. The most common on the market is cold pressing. Cold pressing simply extracts the liquid from the seaweed and leaves the rest of the nutrition found in the solid part unused, resulting in reduced efficiency. We ferment (using a tested Japanese method called Bokashi) by adding a range of beneficial fermentation microbes (and molasses), creating a live, active, product, that enhances soil conditions and plat health. Our fermentation breaks down all of the seaweed, providing all the benefits.
